Quick back story...

I’ve been migrating all my software over to ClickFunnels — including my email list (which is currently on Kit).

Well…

…I figured out that I do not have the time to manage an email migration for my 5,000+ size email list AND write daily emails AND serve my Skool AND make YouTube videos AND read books, run, workout, play golf and love my kids well.

So I posted a job on Upwork to get a pro to do it.

That’s where Weird Upwork Guy (AKA... WUG!) comes in 🤣

I put my budget on the LUXURY side of what Upwork recommended I pay for this job.

Because I take my email deliverability VERY SERIOUSLY (it’s the core of my entire business) and I really don’t want to filter through all the plebs who prompted ChatGPT to write a generic cover letter and plan on ChatGPT themselves through my entire project.

Well apparently…

…that didn’t filter everyone out! Haha.

I got a message from a guy who seemed very legit.

He had 100+ reviews. 4.9 Stars. Email Deliverability Specialist in his title. Was charging $120 per hour. All good signs.

Even his cover lettermessage to me was very personal.

That message was actually the reason I even responded because I was basically sold on someone else (take notes you Upwork folks).

So I sent him a message asking him his plan and timeline for this migration — specifically around the segmentation since I’ll be emailing out of TWO systems (ClickFunnels and Kit) while ClickFunnels “warms up.”

Then he sends me this back…

Weird Upwork Guy (WUG):

You are likely the best judge when it comes to migrating and segmenting the email lists. Domain monitoring and warming are crucial.

Wait wait wait…

Why in the world would I pay you $120 per hour if I am the best judge on how to migrate, segment and warm up my list on another software?

That is quite literally…

THE THING I AM TRYING TO HIRE YOU TO DO!

WUG…

… you are FIRING yourself by putting the ball in my court!

At this point, I’m a little frustrated.

But I thought maybeeee I wasn’t clear enough in my question.

So I gave him the benefit on the doubt and simplified it.

Instead I just said…

“How would you prefer to do this migration? Step by step.”

Very clear question, right?

An UnMissAble question.

Hard to get this wrong.

Well here’s what he said:

Here is my work plan:

1. Mandatory initial check of your domain—DNS, reputation, blacklists, blocks, email logs, deliverability rate, bounce rate, open rates, email content, etc. This will take 3–4 hours.

2. Domain setup and configuration in ClickFunnels—adding all DNS records, configuration, and testing. Work time: up to 5 hours.
   ​
3. Selection and implementation of the best warm-up strategy based on reputation and current deliverability. Approximately 5 hours.
   ​
4. Monitoring email deliverability in ClickFunnels and Kit. Why both platforms? Because emails will be sent from both platforms simultaneously, and any reputation issues require an immediate response. 1–2 hours/day.

Also, I need you to send me your price offer.

WUG, ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR RIGHTEOUS MIND!?

It’s going to take you FIVE hours to setup a domain?

News flash, I already did it!

Took me 6 minutes and I was eating a sandwich and scratching my caboose while doing it.

What should I do with the remainder of my 4 hours and 54 minutes?

I could whip a brand new website in 5 hours.

Are you high a kite when you’re setting up a domain my guy?

And look at this zinger…

WHY AM I SENDING YOU A PRICE OFFER?

You are a professional, are you not WUG!?

Can’t you just say…

“It’s gonna take 20 hours and I’m $120 per hour so total cost is $2,400.”

The most uncomfortable thing in the world is me offering a price that doesn’t make any sense to you because I DON’T KNOW WHAT THIS STUFF COSTS!

I don’t migrate my email list every week, do I WUG?

No I do not!

I’ve done this MAYBE ONCE in a my life.

But you’re like, “yeah man just pay me whatever you usually pay.”

Well needless to say…

… I didn’t hire WUG.

I didn’t even respond to WUG.

I completely ignored WUG because I believe WUG is copy pasting ChatGPT and has the business sense of a five-year-old at a “pay what you want” lemonade stand.

And I will NOT put my valuable email list in the hands of WUG!

So I spent even more money and hired the most expensive guy I found who sent me a legit proposal… a legit timeline… and has a team of people handling my migration every single day.

It’s funny because the more time I spend in circles with people who I would consider “Players with Money” (in the words of Gary Halbert) — the more I realize that we shop based on HIGH PRICE first, not “cheapest.”

Totally different mindset.

It’s one of the reasons I’ll be increasing the prices across almost all of my products within the next few months.

Including CopyCreator Club, Client Casanova and a few others.

First is definitely Client Casanova.

It’s savagely underpriced at $27.

It’ll be going up to $55 after my ClickFunnels migration is done.
