First, I got the most incredible Bible(s) I’ve ever owned.

I mean look at this…

I got them from a company called Bibliotheca.​

They’re hand pressed in Germany by a publishing company called Buchbinderei Spinner.

The covers are handwoven linen with beautiful thick cotton paper inside.

(Reminds me of what Claude Hopkins says — “The product itself should be its own best salesman”)

It makes reading the Bible feel like classic literature.

And if you’ve been whiffin’ around my list for any sort of time… you’d know that El Copy Goat is big on sitting your caboose in a fat leather chair with a fresh hot espresso and reading some dang literature!

(Cause there’s no AI writing in classic literature)

THE SECOND THING…

I’ve changed my morning routine to read more. Study more. Think more.

Here’s what my new routine looks like…

5:15AM — Pull a fresh shot of espresso

5:30AM — Deep read Bible (and prayer)

6:15AM — Study my craft (Copy, Sales, Persuasion)

7AM — Write write write write write

8:30AM — Breakfast with family

Then I dive into the rest of my day. Projects. CopyCreator Club. Collaborations. Clients (if any). etc.

I’ll also read an hour or so of fiction at night before bed.

(Currently zooming through Project Hail Mary & Mistborn 2)

That puts me at almost three hours of reading a day.

A thing that 99.9% of internet gurus would deem a complete WASTE OF TIME—especially in the economic culture that could be upon us.

I can hear the Keyboard Warriors now…

“3 HOURS A DAY!?!?! INSTEAD... CREATE MORE OFFERS! LAUNCH MORE PRODUCTS! BUILD MORE FUNNELS!”

Heck…

THAT’S THE DEVIL’S VOICE IN THE BACK OF MY HEAD, TOO!

But if there’s anything I’ve learned about life in my 33 years…

It’s that SPIRITUAL & MENTAL strength is just as important as financial strength.

I can’t tell you how many seasons I’ve had where I was making good money but felt far away from God. Or felt like I was inches away from a mental breakdown. That’s just something spreadsheets can’t track.

Spreadsheets can show you the NUMBERS.

But it doesn’t take into account how you feel when your kids look at you and think like you’re off on another planet.

It’s one of the reasons I started building CopyCreator Club.​

Because I worked for too many employers who just didn’t understand that there’s life outside of career.

There’s books to read. Places to travel. Weights to lift. Food to cook. Games to play. Walks to take. Friends to meet. Naps to enjoy.

All they think about is work.

Climbing the ladder.

Stroking their egos.

Slacking you on the weekends.

“Where we at on this campaign?”

“Hows this new employee doing?”

“Are we still on track for that pitch tomorrow?”

Case in point—

My friend Glenn went viral reposting a tweet from AJ Orbach, the co-founder of Triple Whale.

The original tweet was deleted from AJ.

But I remember seeing it before it was deleted.

The tweet was a screenshot of AJ slacking one of his employees on his freaking wedding day.

The Slack was…

AJ: How’s it going?

Employee: Good. Just got married. Will be back online later this afternoon.

And AJ added some milk-toast caption like “LoOk HoW MuCh OuR EmPloYeEs LoVe WoRkinG HeRe ThEy ChEcK iN oN WeDdiNg DaYs”

Of course…

HE GOT OBLITERATED BY NORMAL PEOPLE WHO HAVE A LIFE.

One guy even posted this:

Anywho.

All this to say… I don’t give two rips about hitting the next trend, building a mega company or doing what the crowd of sheep are doing.

I wanna stay spiritual and mentally strong by investing 2-3 hours a day reading and studying.

And I wanna enjoy my remote work-fo-muh-dayum-self business that gives me plenty of margin to ENJOY life.
