It’s 7:17AM. I’m standing in my front yard with a fresh cup of pour over coffee steaming to my chin. This is the time of day where I let my “soul catch up to my body.” I gave up trying to have those “hype” morning routines years ago. I dilly dally a good hour — maybe hour and some change — before I start putting my head down for the big boy work. And there’s no better way to dilly dally than to let your neighbors stare at you wondering why you’re not getting dressed for work. Cause I write words on the internet in my underwear, Kay Karen? Another great way to dilly dally is to check the mail. Not email (Although, I would consider that a form of fantastic dilly dally). No siree. I’m talking the physical mail. The kind where you trott your happy azz to the mailbox. Which is exactly what I did. All to come across the goldmine of the day. Check this out: You know what this is? (All my Gen Z subscribers have never seen a day in their life 🤣) If you said, “El Copy Goat, it’s a newspaper.” Let me metaphorically slap you on the caboose and correct you. This is not a newspaper. THIS IS AN AD! And dare I say, a fantastic ad. This baby was an eight page ad that I couldn’t help but unfold and skim through while drinking my coffee like a real man. You remember those days? When you’d watch your parents just read the newspaper? My dad was actually a newspaper delivery guy for the Atlanta Journal Constitution. One of the biggest publications in Atlanta. And maaaaaan did he love that job. He’d work the night shift delivering thousands of newspapers in his Toyota Sienna across gas stations and grocery stories. In fact, he would take me with him on the weekends. He’d wake me up at 1AM so I can drop off newspapers for him. (No woke child labor laws back then 😆) But I saw why he loved that job so much. Cause everybody loved him.He was the guy bringing the newspaper! People love news. Especially on Sunday when it was the double-sized version. I remember one night specifically we got pulled over by the cops so that the police officer could grab a copy of the Sunday Paper from my pops! Haha! Ahhh simpler times. But back to the “newspaper” that came in my mail. It’s brilliant because it doesn’t look, taste, feel, touch, smell or sound like an ad. If you wanna sell anything to anyone… you have to understand—NAY—practice the mastery of making your ads never feel like an ad. Some other great examples of this: *Adobe’s YouTube channel is just tutorial videos on how to use Lightroom, Photoshop, etc → AKA.... VSLs for their software that feel like content *David Ogilvy wrote the “Guinness Guide to Oysters” ad that felt like an editorial guide for the best beers to go with specific oysters *This very email is an entertaining, valuable guide that helps you create better ads but will, of course, include a pitch for my own product Which is Email Goat. My 119-page written course that shows you how to do exactly what I am talking about. To write emails so entertaining and wickedly fun that it doesn't ever feel, taste, smell or look like an ad. Hope you enjoyed that one. Got another banger for you tomorrow. Your friend, Alin “Email Goat” Dragu P.S. On Monday, I'm dropping a brand new steaming hawt offer. And it's not a course. Get ready.
