I re-built my copy agency website πŸ€ͺ

Yesterday, I read this tweet from Dakota Robertson.

When I had 0 clients, I wasted 2 months building a "sexy" website.

Yesterday, I paid $49 for Carrd and built an ugly site in 20 minutes.

If there's one thing I learned over the past 4 years:

Speed beats sexy.

The funniest part about this tweet?

I read it while grabbing screenshots from Twitter to put on the NEW SEXY WEBSITE I built for Dragu Fitterman & Co β€” haha!

But did that tweet slap me in the bullocks and make me feel guilty!?

Not at all, ghost rider!

BECAUSE IT MATTERS WHO YOU SELL TO.

When my business partner, Ben, and I launched DFC (Dragu Fitterman & Co.) in January...

I whipped up a landing page in Notion.

Wrote the sales letter in one day. Got it up there. Shipped.

Bada bing bada boom.

Because the people who would see that page were warm relationships.

At that point in building the business, we were just texting friends and referrals.

But now we're moving our approach towards building with organic content.

Lead magnets. Threads. LinkedIn Carousels. YouTube videos.

(We'll let ya know what works the best)

And the PEOPLE that we are creating content for is DTC Business Owners.

We're not selling a $100 course on Twitter.

We're selling 4-5 figure retainers to people who have built multi-million dollar brands.

And I can bet my big fat caboose that if I sent organic leads to a:

  1. Notion Page
  2. Carrd Page
  3. Super Sexy Website

The super sexy website would convert higher EVERY SINGLE TIME...

FOR THAT AUDIENCE!

(Given the content being the same)

That's why you gotta take all this internet advice with a grain of salt.

(Even what I'm saying right now)

And this is no disrespect towards Dakota - he's fantastic.

But even with zero clients, it may REALLY matter what your website looks like.

Your headshots. Your branding. Your proof.

The gurus are gonna try and hang me for this one...

But I would challenge you to UP YOUR GAME brand wise.

Going the extra mile on your website, branding, case studies, testimonials, etc will give you the edge on the dude just sending a google doc.

Because it looks like you put 100x more effort in.

And that effort has a "shock factor" for high end clientel.

I.e. they respect it, a lot.

Again, if you're selling a $100 course on Twitter... ya go for google docs. Haha.

But if you're looking to up your game and get big cahuna fish paying you big bucks.

Put some freakin' effort in.

And if you want to create an online brand & presence that attract high-paying clients β€” I highly recommend joining me in the next Create Publish Profit Cohort!

This would be my 6th time going through it myself!

And I’m personally teaching two big lessons πŸ˜„
