I'm questioning my own integrity...

I take my Sundays very seriously.

And by very seriously…

… I mean I do my best to do a little as possible 🤣

After church in the morning, I am practically a high-class bum!

Sunday activities may include (but not limited to):

— falling asleep on the couch

— reading fantasy novels (red rising, six of crows, etc)

— playing lego with my kids

— catching up on final fantasy 7

Or what I did yesterday, which was…

BINGE “BEAST GAMES” ON AMAZON PRIME 🤘

Which I gotta say…

I’ve not been this addicted to a show in a looooong time.

Here’s the gist of the show…

It’s hosted by Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast) where he puts 1,000 competitors through a series of challenges until he eliminates everyone but ONE person.

That one person wins $5M.

Thassss alotta keeesh!

Well yesterday I binged about five episodes 🤣

I’m addicted!

And I think my addiction comes from how psychological Jimmy made every game.

It’s less of a game show and more of a public experiment on human behavior.

Which as a copywriter…

…is like crack cocaine to a baby! 😮‍💨

There is this one WILD game that has me questioning my OWN integrity!!

HERE’S THE GAME…

Once there are only 10 players left…

Jimmy has every player vote for a team captain.

He says, “whatever you do, pick someone you trust.”

That team captain then assigns everyone a number from 2-10.

The captain is 1.

The lower your number, the better.

(We don’t know why yet…)

Already the psychology is crazy…

He’s forcing people to choose their own leader in a cut throat game where you’re all racing to win $5M. Which means to become that leader, you have to gain people’s trust with very dark persuasion tactics to conceal any personal intents you may have.

Dark dark stuff.

HERE’S WHAT HAPPENS NEXT…

Once you’ve got your leader and your number.

The leader is then escorted to a private location where they are shown a stack of $1,000,000 CASH!

Everyone is hidden in their own private location awaiting for their number to be called.

No one can see what the captain is doing.

Then Jimmy walks us to the captain that EVERYONE agreed on and says this:

“Nick, this is one million dollars.

In fact, it is YOUR one million dollars.

In this game, you can take however much money you want and it’s yours. No one will know. After you take however much money you want… we will bring in contestant #2… then #3… and all of them have the same option. They can take however much money they want until the full $1M is gone.

So if you Nick take the full $1M… everyone else will come up to an empty pot… but they won't all know it was you...

Or you can take just $100,000 and give everyone else the opportunity to do the same thing…

Or you can take any random number… $500K. $250K. Whatever you want.

Remember this is YOUR money.

So whatever you don’t take is money you are choosing to leave behind.

How much money would you like?”

DO YOU SEE THE DARK TWISTED PERSUASION JIMMY IS USING ON PEOPLE!?

He’s using a sales tactic called “the takeaway.”

Where you assign ownership of what you’re trying to sell to someone so that instead of telling them they’re getting something they never had… you make them feel like you’re taking away something that rightfully belongs to them!

A dark tactic that works like crazy.

Gary Bencivenga taught this in his goodbye seminar.

He said:

“If you called your best friend at 2AM in the morning and told him there was 50% off brand new tires down the street, he would tell you to leave him alone. But if someone broke into that same guys house at 2AM and stole his beat up old truck tires worth nothing, he would run outside in his underwear with a shotgun chasing down the criminal who took those worthless tires.”

Make people feel like they already own your product…

… and they will feel ridiculous walking away without it!

BACK TO THE GAME…

Nick is standing in front of $1M.

He can take however much money he wants.

If he takes the entire million, his friends (or enemies) behind him will be left with nothing.

People who have fought hard to be here.

People who have families at home.

People who technically deserve it as much as him.

And who put their trust in him to do the right thing as a leader.

But before I tell you what Nick does…

I wanna ask you.

HOW MUCH WOULD YOU TAKE?

If you could take as much as you want but you know that means less for your friends (and competitors) behind you…

… how much are you taking?

On one hand, you came into this game to win $5M.

You didn’t come here to make friends.

You have a family… kids… a home…

Do you take the full $1M and tell them to shove off?

(Which also practically guarantees a target on your back and almost certain elimination from the opportunity to win $5M)

Or do you take your fair share? $100K.

And pray to God everyone else does the same thing.

Cause remember…

The less you take… the more trust you’re putting in the people behind you to do the right thing…

And now two seasons into Beast Games…

THE “RIGHT THING” HAS NEVER BEEN DONE!

In season one, the first person to go took their “fair share.”

She took $100K and prayed she would set the trend for everyone to win.

Then the second person said, “Nah Cuz!”

He took $230K.

Then the third person took $650K!

Leaving everyone else $23K to split…

He quickly became the “villain.”

They eliminated him in the very next game and he lost his shot at $5M.

But he walked away with $650K…

So did he really lose?

Well in the next season… you’d think maybe people would behave differently…

BUT…

Our boy Nick was picked specifically because every single person believed he would do the right thing and only take $100K…

… he told them that was his plan guaranteed!

And he proved his trust the entire way.

Until he was standing in front of that million with Jimmy’s dark persuasion tactics whispering in his ears…

This is your money…

You came here for your family…

Are these people gonna take care of you after the show?

Well…

The persuasion worked!

Nick — the guy who swore he’d do the “right” thing — took $250,000.

Then 8 out of 9 of the remaining players took their “fair share”.

Only one other play took $250K, just like Nick.

Did Nick do something wrong?

Isn’t it wild just how much we use copywriting in our day to day lives?

When Jimmy was saying these words to the contestants…

… my brain immediately knew he had someone with deep persuasion skills write this script for him.

Even how he structured his sentences were clearly very planned.

AND THEY FREAKING WORKED!

Which…

It’s pretty easy to sell “free money’ I guess 🤣

But at the cost of your integrity?

Hmmm.

What would you do?

Reply and let me know!
