What do ya think? π Starting with the first question: El Copy Goat My question is When it comes to research in copywriting, after I have done all the research, How will I relate it to my copy? I mean how is the research and copy connected All marketing is this: Product to Market fit. In your market research, you're trying to determine what desires, dreams & problems your target audience has. In your product research, you're trying to determine what desires, dreams & problems your product can provide or solve. β Then you MATCH the two.β So if you're doing market research for let's say the golf niche and you figure out... Oh wow! All these people ever talk about is hitting the ball 400 yards like Happy Gilmore... And your product can help them do that β well then your copy should talk about the features, unique mechanism and benefits of exactly the thing they are hoping for! Basically:
That's how you write copy. BAM! Next question: Hey Alin. I was trying to start writing lately. It's just practice. I like to write sales letter. But I feel the need to research before I start writing but that's something thtat takes alot of time. I wish Icould just start writing or relatively quickly without the need to spend a lot of time on gathering info. So I was wondering how you practice? The easiest thing is to write sales letters for a product you already know really well. Especially if you're just practicing. What have you personally bought and used? I bet you could easily write a sales letter for your iPhone, car, favorite book or whatever. But the real answer is: β Don't try to skip the market research!β I wrote an email last week about doing things the "long hard stupid way." Market research included. Because when you skip this stuff, you're skipping 99% of the great ideas you could write about by just doing the market research. For example, when John Carlton wrote the one-legged golfer sales letter (his best performing sales letter ever)... that story came from... β YOU GUESSED IT! MARKET RESEARCH! π΅οΈββοΈβ He was at the bar talking to the owner of the info-product he was selling. The owner told him how he originally came up with the product idea. (The one-legged golfer story) And it blew John's mind! So he turned that into the headline and wrote the whole letter on it. Had he said, "Oh man I don't feel like doing research, I just wanna write." He would have missed out on the BIGGEST PAY DAY OF HIS LIFE! Again, do things the long hard stupid way. That's how real copy goats do work. Last question: Yo goat. I noticed you flipped your twitter account. It's all about eCommerce brands now. Are you not writing to copywriters anymore? Good eye, small fry. I did flip my entire Twitter account to focus on email marketing for eCom brands. π But my YouTube and daily emails are entirely focused on helping you -- the copywriter.
