I was writing my daily email this morning when I got a text… … “Hey man, I’m playing a charity golf tournament 30 minutes from your house at a beautiful private course. Our 4th team member just dropped out. Any chance you wanna play today? It’s free.” I text back, “Let me ask my boss.” Then I ran to the bathroom, looked at myself in the mirror and said, “Sounds like a great time! Enjoy Alin!” 🤣🤣🤣 So here I am on the golf course 👆 I actually wasn’t gonna do it (I have a ton of YouTube videos and funnels to edit!) but my amazing wife insisted I go take an extra day off to go play… … she knows I have been working my absolutely caboose off the last few weeks to: — Write a 49-page newsletter — Edit 15+ sales pages in my funnels — Travel to Texas to sell stuff with my best friends — Write a barrage of emails promoting Chronicles & Masterclass w/ Andrew Gould Needless to say… YOUR BOY HAS BEEN BURNING THE MIDNIGHT OIL!Which made my willpower to refuse FREE golf very very very low 😄 Except for… … it wasn't really free. Well it was but gollee were there a ton of upsells, downsells, side sells, cross sells, through sells LOL I’d never played a charity golf event so I had no idea what I was getting into. But basically how it worked was… … you get to play golf for “free” but you are subjecting yourself to a sales pitch at every hole. Like the first hole we got to — we are about to tee off when the sweet girl behind us asks — “would you like to buy a hole in one?” “Huh?” “Yeah! For $200, you don’t even have to play the hole! You can simply put a 1 on your scorecard and guarantee yourself a better spot in the tournament!” “But I wanna play the hole 😄” “It goes to a great cause!” Then as if I had the most Marketer Light Bulb Moment Ever… I shouted (in my own head)… “THIS IS A LEAD MAGNET FUNNEL!”I’m in a real life lead magnet funnel! They got me (a lead) to attend their “free” event so they can pitch me upsells. Brilliant! I love it! I respect it! And as the day went on… … I should have been focusing on the golf but I kept thinking about this massive funnel me and 100+ other golfers had been sucked into! Hahaha. And the thing that 99.9% of people would completely miss except for a top tier salesman (like myself 😜) is the brilliance of the… SELLING ENVIRONMENT!You see… I play quite a bit of golf nowadays. And one thing I know about the golf community is… they are what Gary Halbert calls PLAYERS WITH MONEY. It’s often called “the sport of kings.” A sport for the upper echelon of the economy. I’m not saying that to self-aggrandize but to better set up the point I’m about to make. Golf is a sport that attracts players with money… … and it is played in an environment that has conditioned those players with money to SPEND that money. Whether it’s balls and tees at the pro shop or a very expensive lunch after your round or a handful of brewskis for the boys while you’re playing. Golfers will easily spend $150-$200 every time they play a round. Which is typically once a week. So when you put a bunch of Players With Money in an environment where they’re conditioned to SPEND money… …THEY WILL BEHAVE AS CONDITIONED!AKA spend money 😜 Setting up a “selling environment” is brilliantly taught in Joe Sugarman’s Adweek Copywriting Handbook but honestly you can see it where ever you go. Other great examples of “creating a selling environment” are like… — Ben Settle including an offer in every single email he ever sends (conditioning you that buying is normal) — Car dealerships allowing you to take cars home overnight before buying them (so you can see it in own driveway and SELL YOURSELF in your OWN environment) — Tourist locations using emotional justification of “you're on vacation” as a reason to spend (cause you “deserve” it which makes you more likely to place yourself in a selling environment) I could prattle on and on and on about the brilliance of this. But instead of doing that, I’d rather help you create your OWN selling environment. By writing daily sales emails just like this. It’s by far the best selling environment you could ever create, especially come 2027. Heck, if I send an email without a link to buy something (which is rare), I almost always get a reply like “why didn’t you sell anything today?” Wouldn’t you like that? A bunch of customers who wonder how they can buy more of your stuff? I guarantee you’re not getting that with Meta ads or tweets… in fact online, people are paying those platforms to turn ads off! But for some reason, I’ve been able to “condition” my email list to WANT offers from me. And I show you exactly how I do it inside of Email Goat training course. Click that link to check it out. Hope that makes you a bushel of dough. Your friend, Alin “Happily Sells In Selling Environments” Dragu
