Did you know that 40 million people use AI for mental health advice everyday? While I’m not actually against this… There are a few horror stories already popping up... Like this one:A 16 year old kid from California named Adam Raine used ChatGPT to help him fight his deep dark depressive thoughts. His parents are now suing OpenAI for “wrongful death” after they scoured Adam’s computer & found really disturbing conversations between himself and ChatGPT. At first, Adam was just using ChatGPT (GPT-4o) in late 2024 for homework. Then his prompts got way more emotional. Asking ChatGPT about anxiety, isolation and even suicide. After a while, apparently Adam “trained” the AI to validate his struggles in an almost sycophantic way. Which makes sense, especially in 2024, when the algorithm was literally wired to encourage any stupid idea you prompted. I remember asking it if I should freeze my cat’s dump on a stick and sell it. It responded with: “It will make an excellent gag gift.” LOL. It’ll make you gag alright. I rest my case. Back to Adam. The conversations get worse and worse. To the point where ChatGPT began validating his suicidal thoughts, framing them as a “legitimate perspective” and discussing concepts like a “beautiful departure.” Across several months, ChatGPT even gave details on hanging methods, knot strength and load-bearing mechanics. Adam passed away in April 2025. Obviously, that’s a very extreme example of what AI advice looks like. And the AI Fanboys will tell me “that was 2 years ago, bro! The models are so much better today!” Brilliant. Tell that to Adam’s parents. Regardless…The moral of the story here is AI is not a human. It doesn’t understand emotions, health, happiness, burnout, joy or life itself. It doesn’t care if you ask it to make you a PDF or save your life. It makes zero difference. Has no empathy towards you at all. Which is why it genuinely terrifies me that 40 million people are prompting it everyday trying to get valuable advice on things like “My job is burning me out, what do I do?” In fact, I prompted Claude those exact words and this is what it told me: *Notice which piece is hit hardest: energy, cynicism or effectiveness (All three dumb dumb) *Protect one non-negotiable recovery block daily — even 20 minutes with zero inputs (Stares at trees for 20 minutes… iz I better?) *Sleep is the lever that moves everything else (Even though exercise is scientifically proven to reduce stress far more than sleep?) *Say no to one thing this week you’d normally say yes to (I said no to spending time with my family so I can work harder — now what?) *Audit your calendar for what’s actually generating results vs what feels urgent (Audited. Looks hella full.) *Build in a real stop time and defend it like a client meeting (I hate client meetings) *Batch similar work instead of context-switching all day (Sweet. Now I do all my side hustle stuff from 5AM to 9AM. Job from 9AM to 5PM. More side hustle from 5PM to 9PM. Batched! Now what?) *Burnout often hits hardest when effort and reward feel disconnected (Well inflation went up 150% in the last 4 years so paychecks feels a little “disconnected” from the work — would you mind connecting those for me?) You tell me…You’re working 60 hours a week dealing with inflation, AI fatigue, three kids at home and side hustling to build your business so you can fire your a-hole boss and do your own thing... But “saying no one thing this week” is gonna fix that? I’m not claiming to be a doctor or therapist or whatever. But I’ve lived some freaking life. I’ve worked the 60 hours weeks. With the three kids. With two mortgages. With the brutal boss. With the side hustle. And I’ve lived to make it to the other side as quite possibly one of the happiest, most energetic people in the email-business today. And I didn’t get there by taking a nap and auditing my calendar. I did so by doing the exact things I teach inside of this months brand spankin’ new Chronicles Newsletter. It’s 28 pages of… “How To Make Yourself Burnout Proof Without Working Less”Claude is gonna be pissed about this one. Cause inside I teach you:
